Where the real AI money is going (hint: it's not custom chatbots) and the 5-step framework to position your AI offering for results.

Let’s get to it.
Lately, I’ve noticed a trend. Maybe you have too. Many tech companies have added an “AI Development Services” page to their website and quietly hope that leads will roll in.
But instead of new prospects, they get several confused inquiries. At best.
Here is what the founders say in their defense:
💬 “We added an AI page to the site, but we don’t have any leads.”
💬 “We’re deploying AI agents and launching outreach campaigns, but conversions rarely go beyond an initial call or the deal sizes remain small.”
💬 “We can build AI, but clients don’t really know what they need. And honestly, we don’t know how to sell it.”
💬 “AI is changing too fast. We’re not sure what exactly to build or package.”
So why aren’t results coming in?
To answer this question, I asked our AI Practice Leader, Alex Sharko.
“The real blocker is weak positioning and poor GTM. If the offer is vague, generic, or sounds like everyone else’s...
-> You’ll struggle to get past the first call;
-> Clients won’t “get” what you do;
-> You’ll burn leads that could’ve converted with a better message."
And this isn’t a technology problem. It’s a marketing one. Until it’s fixed, even the best AI solution will sit on the shelf.
But maybe AI is another hype cycle, and all you need to do is wait it out?
Not quite.
There’s a lot of talk about AI being “the next bubble.” But investments in AI say otherwise.
In 2024 alone, global AI investment reached $252.3 billion.

AI projects on GitHub grew from 1,549 in 2011 to around 4.3 million in 2024.

AI isn’t a passing trend. It’s a fundamental shift in how companies operate.
But you won’t make a profit on AI with custom assistants or chatbots.
That space is already overcrowded with:
● Ready-made agents and chatbots● Low-code platforms. If you offer the same thing but custom-built, don’t be surprised that there is nobody to buy it.
You need real business value, strong positioning, and an efficient GTM strategy.
We got an input from our AI Practice Leader, Alex Sharko, on where AI money is going.
His advice: Pick your niche and double down on fast-growing segments like data management, healthcare, customer support, fintech, and cybersecurity.

So, what should you do about AI beyond generic custom AI development offerings?
Here’s a mini workshop to guide you:
Step 1. Pick a niche
Don’t go wide. Go deep.
How? Pick a specific industry, like fintech, healthtech, or logistics, and solve urgent problems for those businesses.
● Don’t: Custom AI development services.● Do: Pre-built AI agent that flags suspicious transactions in fintech.
Step 2. Upskill your team
AI won’t build itself.
➡️ Sales should communicate the value your AI service delivers in business terms.
How? Give them sales enablement kits and call scripts they can rely on.
➡️ Your tech experts should understand how to build production-ready AI, not just pilots.
How? Run internal AI bootcamps. Encourage cross-functional work between your team members.
Step 3. Build an MVP
Start small, but make it work.
How? Your MVP should solve one painful problem and prove your AI can deliver real value. Don’t over-engineer.
Step 4. Create compelling demos and tailored proposals
Show what your AI can do.
How? Build a demo tied to real use cases and follow up with tailored proposals that speak to your client’s metrics and ROI.
Step 5. Develop partnership playbooks
Partners can help you scale if you set them up to win.
How? Create guides for how they can sell, demo, and support your AI solution.
I’ve recently spoken with the team at @Nova Poshta Digital, Ukraine’s largest private logistics company. They didn’t rush to “AI-ify” everything at once. They started small, right where the internal friction was highest.
First, they automated routine service desk requests like time-off approvals or internal orders. With a strong foundation in data science and forecasting, they’re now building internal AI agents to support their logistics and customer service teams.
It’s an example of how large service businesses can adopt AI gradually and make it useful.
